The ECD Initiative provides quality education and nurturing care for young children in safe, structured environments at multiple Good News Centres, including Lamontville, Candu, and Mariannhill. Our mission is to equip children with foundational skills, confidence, and care that set them on a path to thrive in school and life.

Building Strong Communities

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Good News Crèches providing structured learning for children aged 3 – 5
  • Two nutritious meals daily at each crèche
  • Educational outings to explore and learn outside of the classroom
  • Ongoing facility upgrades to ensure safe, stimulating, and welcoming environments

  • 100 children attending our Good News crèches across three centres

  • Positive development in social, emotional, and cognitive skills reported by teachers

Updates

The Lamontville Crèche was upgraded with support from the Unlimited Child Foundation.

50 children enjoyed an educational outing to the Animal Farm.

Grandparents were invited to spend a special day with their grandchildren.

Mother’s Day was celebrated at our crèches.

The Lamontville Good News Centre took part in the “Teach a Child to Fish” initiative.

Why It Matters

Many children in disadvantaged areas begin school without the basics, from proper nutrition to early learning skills. Our ECD programmes bridge that gap, preparing children not only for school but for a brighter future.
