COPT together with Focus on the Family ran a one day seminar for teenage girls at the Lamontville centre. Teenagers from the Marrianhill and Clermont centres supported the event. The girls were encouraged to keep themselves pure, to focus on their education and studies. Statistics has shown that if you finish school, get a job and get married before having children you have a 98% chance of not being in poverty. A number of girls made a commitment to keep themselves pure by signing a promise to themselves and wearing a purity ring as a sign and a reminder of their commitment to themselves. COPT will be running a follow up seminar together with teenage boys discussing the challenges both sexes have in their environment concerning teenage sex and the consequences.
